This document provides guidance for non-NHS laboratory testing for SARS-CoV-2 within Scotland, including ensuring there is a process in place for a reactive test within the Non-NHS laboratories to inform contact tracing via Test & Protect or local health protection teams. This should be achieved by the establishment of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a local NHS lab.
It should be noted that SARS-CoV-2 is a notifiable organism which must be reported to Public Health Scotland or local health protection teams by the directors of the relevant laboratories as per the Public Health (Scotland) Act 2008.
