This screening tool can be used by healthcare practitioners to help determine whether an individual may receive a shingles vaccine and to identify the most suitable shingles vaccine to administer based on any pre-existing medical conditions.
There are two licensed shingles vaccines available in the UK with the non-live vaccine suitable for people who have severely weakened immune systems.
A clinical risk assessment should be undertaken to identify individuals who are severely immunosuppressed and the administration of Shingrix® can then be considered.
