“Please could you provide aggregate hospital activity data for bronchiectasis (ICD‑10 code J47) from Scotland’s general acute inpatient/day case record (SMR01).
Requested outputs (preferably in Excel/CSV):
- A) J47 as PRIMARY diagnosis only
- B) J47 in ANY diagnosis position (i.e., any diagnosis field)
For each of A and B, please provide counts by:
NHS Board, and
Hospital of treatment (hospital name or code) if available and releasable under statistical disclosure controls.
(If hospital-level output cannot be released, NHS Board level alone is acceptable.)
Time period:
The two most recent complete financial years available (e.g., 2023/24 and 2024/25). If only earlier years are currently available for SMR01 extracts, please provide the most recent two complete years you hold.
Measure requested:
Number of inpatient/day case discharges or admissions (whichever is standard in SMR01 reporting for this type of FOI output).
Notes to support disclosure control / feasibility:
I am only requesting aggregate counts, not person-level data.
I am content for small cell counts to be suppressed/rounded in line with Public Health Scotland’s disclosure protocols.
If fulfilling the hospital-level breakdown would exceed FOI cost/time limits, please provide the NHS Board-level table only (A and B) and advise what would be required to request hospital-level information through an alternative route.”
