Request

“1. The number of people living with a recorded diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) on the 01/01/2022, the number of living with a diagnosis of COPD on the 01/01/2023. Please confirm how a COPD diagnosis has been defined.”

“2. For the population living with a recorded diagnosis of COPD on the 01/01/2022 please can you provide the following metrics for the calendar year 2022. These metrics are:

  1. The number of respiratory related hospital admissions in that calendar year, along with details of how a respiratory related admission has been defined
  2. The number of COPD related hospital admissions in that calendar year, along with details of how a COPD related admission has been defined
  3. The number of all cause hospital admissions in that calendar year

“4. The number of individuals in the population with at least 1, at least 3, and at least 5 respiratory related hospital admissions in that calendar year

  1. The number of individuals in the population with at least 1, at least 3, and at least 5 COPD related hospital admissions in that calendar year
  2. The number of individuals in the population with at least 1, at least 3, and at least 5 all cause hospital admissions in that calendar year
  3. The average number of respiratory related admissions and occupied bed days for each individual in the diagnosed COPD population in that calendar year
  4. The average number of all cause admissions and occupied bed days for each individual in the diagnosed COPD population in that calendar year
  5. How many deaths occurred in that calendar year within the diagnosed COPD population
  6. Total number of GP appointments in that calendar year for patients with a COPD diagnosis.
  7. The number of individuals in the population that received a COPD review in primary care in that calendar year
  8. The number of all cause and respiratory related admissions had by individuals who did not have a primary care review in that calendar year
  9. The number of people in the COPD population who had a heart failure diagnosis at the beginning of the calendar year.”

“3. For the population living with a recorded diagnosis of COPD on the 01/01/2022 please can you provide the following metrics for the calendar year 2022. These metrics are:

  1. The number of respiratory related hospital admissions in that calendar year, along with details of how a respiratory related admission has been defined
  2. The number of COPD related hospital admissions in that calendar year, along with details of how a COPD related admission has been defined

“4. As well presenting totals could the numbers for metrics 1, 2, and 3 be stratified by:

  1. SIMD for the individuals having the admissions
  2. Calendar month of admission date
  3. Whether or not the admission was a 90-day readmission (whether the admission date occurred within 90 days of the discharge date of a preceding admission of the same type* for that
  4. individual) + calendar month of admission date
  5. Whether or not the admission was a 30 day readmission (whether the admission date occurred within 30 days of the discharge date of a preceding admission of the same type* for that individual) + calendar month of admission date

*same type = respiratory related (1), COPD-related (2), or all-cause (3)
