“SMR01 provides information on the number of stays in hospital related to alcohol use and related to drug use, which is used at a data zone level to calculate SIMD results.
However, within the SIMD results, these figures are not presented in absolute figures, but rather as standardised ratios.
I am interested in the original absolute figures on a data zone level (as opposed to on a health board level, as they are currently released by PHS) for both alcohol use related stays and drug use related stays. Although the most recent figures would be appreciated, if it is easier to repurpose the tables used in the 2020 SIMD release, that would be fine.
The particular interest in this and the reason I believe it warrants an FOI request is to investigate whether any "small area effects" occur in this field and to explore local geographic patterns with regards to the drugs and alcohol health epidemics.”
