Introduction to screening in Scotland

What screening is and how it affects health inequalities

Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening

Men across Scotland will be invited for screening in their 65th year

Bowel screening

We invite everyone aged between 50 and 74 to take part in screening every two years.

Breast screening

Women aged between 50 and 70 years old are invited for screening every three years

Cervical screening

All women in Scotland, aged 25 to 64, are invited to have a cervical screening test

Diabetic eye screening

Diabetic eye screening is offered to anyone with diabetes, aged 12 and over, every two years

Pregnancy and newborn screening

Routine screening tests are offered during pregnancy and for newborn babies
