Abstract

In 2021, all teaching at the University of Glasgow Medical School was online due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This pivot to online brought many challenges, but also presented opportunities to develop new ways of teaching. In year 2 of the Undergraduate Medical Curriculum, students take a 5 week student selected component block, and a new module was designed titled The Covid Stories. During the 5 weeks, a group of students researched and produced podcasts to capture the stories of a variety of people, from healthcare professionals, front line workers, educators, people shielding and community heroes. These individuals all had a story to tell about the impact of covid on their lives. All the podcasts were woven together into a series, narrated by one of the students. As well as gaining podcasting experience, the students reflected on the other skills they developed during the module.
