Public Health Scotland (PHS) welcomes the announcement from Mental Health Minister Clare Haughey of the £120 million of funding for the Mental Health Recovery and Renewal Fund. The funding is aimed at improving how people can manage their mental health with appropriate early support and be referred to additional support when required.
Claire Sweeney, Director of Place and Wellbeing at PHS, said:
"This funding for mental health reflects the unprecedented challenges we have all faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact the pandemic has had on all our lives means mental health and wellbeing must be central to Scotland's recovery across our communities including the recovery of all those involved in the COVID-19 response. That’s one of the reasons why PHS has prioritised mental wellbeing as part of our strategic plan 'A Scotland where everybody thrives'."
As everyone in Scotland continues to follow coronavirus restrictions and stop the spread of the virus, it is vitally important to remember to take steps to look after your mental health too. For advice and tips on doing this, please visit the Clear Your Head website (external website).
