Overview

The DTP vaccine for young people helps protect against:

The vaccine is also known as the Td/IPV vaccine.

A total of five doses of the diphtheria, tetanus and polio vaccine are required to build up immunity and give longer-term protection.

The first three doses are given as a baby.

The fourth dose is given at from 3 years 4 months, before the child starts school.

The fifth dose is due in S3 (around 14 years old).
