Eligible groups

The shingles vaccine is recommended for people aged 65 or 70 on 1 September 2023.

The shingles vaccine is also recommended for people aged:

  • 50 and over with a severely weakened immune system or about to start immunosuppressive therapy
  • 71 to 79 (on 1 September 2023) who have not previously had the vaccine
  • 18 and over who have received a stem cell transplant or a CAR-T therapy.

The vaccine can be offered at any time of year. People should speak to their healthcare professional about getting other vaccines at the same time.
