Forthcoming publications

This annual publication presents estimates of long-term health and care demand, based on historical trends and population projections. It provides insight into future pressures on services and highlights key factors driving demand to support planning and resource allocation. The first publication in this series will focus on unplanned acute hospital demand.

This release of weekly data includes official statistics collected by PHS on attendances at Emergency Departments (EDs) across Scotland. The information presented in this release includes the number of attendances and 4, 8 and 12 hour waits at EDs.

This report presents research over what might be a realistic and achievable, yet challenging stretch aim, or target, for life expectancy in Scotland by 2035 to inform the Population Health Framework. The report presents a summary of the most recently available Scottish life expectancy at birth projections for males and females up to 2035 encompassing a review of routinely published projections and scenarios, and the findings of a bespoke analysis conducted by Public Health Scotland in January 2025.

This is the first PHS national surveillance report on hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection since the COVID-19 pandemic. The report will include data on HBV testing, diagnoses, cascades, morbidity, mortality, and maternal outcomes from 2014 to 2023.

This weekly release by Public Health Scotland presents epidemiological information on respiratory infection activity, including COVID-19, across Scotland. Due to the dynamic nature of all datasets included in this report, figures contained within each update may be subject to change in future releases. Any revised figures will then be reflected within the latest update.

Public Health Scotland (PHS) releases figures on infectious diseases Thursday at 0930 on the Health Protection PHS Webpages. Please note data reporting frequency may vary as PHS continues to monitor data to protect the people of Scotland. Currently weekly data on Measles is being released.

Laboratory Reports of Norovirus in Scotland

SACT activity data is published in a dashboard showing weekly appointments for SACT as well as monthly and annual patient numbers for cancer patients receiving SACT treatment in secondary care in NHS Scotland.

On the 24 June 2025, PHS will be publishing vaccine uptake and vaccine coverage data for the pneumococcal vaccine up to 31 March 2025 on the PHS vaccination surveillance dashboard. PHS previously published pneumococcal and shingles vaccine uptake and coverage data on a quarterly basis, aligned within the same reporting cycle. Following a review of the delivery of these vaccination programmes, it has been concluded that an annual reporting schedule is more appropriate. As the timelines for each programme differ, joint publications will no longer be issued, and future reports will be released independently at separate intervals. The pneumococcal vaccine uptake and coverage report, covering data up to 31 March 2025, will be published on 24 June 2025. The shingles vaccine uptake and coverage report, covering data up to 31 August 2025, will follow in October 2025.

Waiting times for AHP MSK in Scotland. From 1st April 2016, the maximum wait for AHP MSK Services from referral to first clinical out-patient appointment will be 4 weeks (for 90% of patients). First clinical appointment may be by telephone, video or face to face. This publication will show progress towards that target.
