Surveillance of hepatitis C in Scotland. Progress on elimination of hepatitis C as a major public health concern: 2024 update preannounced for 3 December 2024 has been delayed until 28 January 2025. Scottish Government has committed to eliminate Hepatitis C virus (HCV) by the end of 2024/25. One of the key metrics for assessing progress towards elimination is the HCV Cascade of Care (CoC) which quantifies the number of people ever diagnosed with chronic HCV in Scotland. This is the key evidence metric used to evaluate whether Scotland has achieved the WHO global HCV elimination target to treat 80% of those diagnosed. In updating the CoC analysis for the report we have identified a possible data issue which would impact our interpretation of whether Scotland meets this key WHO elimination target. To allow us time to properly investigate this issue, we require to postpone the publication of the surveillance report into the new year
