A one-page briefing to help NHS colleagues share and discuss with their peers how NHS Scotland can use its role as an anchor institution to reduce health inequalities in Scotland.

It describes the three dimensions of anchors:

  • workforce
  • commissioning
  • purchasing, use of land and assets

Please note the percentage of all employment in Scotland that consists of NHS Scotland employees was revised on 10 November 2023. This did not impact other figures or key messages.
