About this release
The Scottish Burden of Disease (SBOD) (external website) study is a population health surveillance system which monitors how diseases, injuries and risk factors prevent the Scottish population from living longer lives in better health. In this report, we explore the impact of the changing demographic situation in Scotland on forecasts of the future burden of disease over the next two decades as an indication of potential future challenges to the health and social care system.
