Research is needed to generate and translate the evidence for strategies to secure and improve health and healthcare systems.

We have developed a PHS research strategy to become a recognised research-active organisation.

Our aim is to be Scotland’s national strategic, collaborating and coordinating centre for public health research and innovation.

This research strategy:

  • builds on successes to date
  • has six research strategic objectives for 2025 to 2029, to support our aim
  • sets out our action plan for 2025 to 2026

It also:

  • demonstrates the value and commitment to research
  • sets out the vision for research within PHS
  • outlines what is needed for PHS to become a well known leader in high-quality research
