Why Public Health Scotland?

Public Health Scotland is a unique partnership between the Scottish Government and Scotland’s local authorities. We were formed in April 2020 to make real improvements to the Health outcomes experienced by some of our communities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a big part of our early workload. However, we have a much broader mission to make a real difference in the lives of our communities. We will do this in a number of ways, by doing:

  • what works
  • what has an impact
  • what has a positive result for those living in our less advantaged areas

As advocates of change we are a strong independent voice. We learn from what we do and have the courage to stop doing those things that do not achieve the impacts we need.

If you share our passion for making Scotland a safer healthier place where all our citizens have the opportunity to fulfil their potential we would love to talk.
