Public Health Scotland is undertaking a consultation on the future presentation of delayed discharge information.

Timely discharge from hospital is an important indicator of quality and is a marker for person-centred, effective, integrated and harm-free care. A delayed discharge occurs when a hospital patient, aged 18 years or over, is clinically ready for discharge from inpatient hospital care continues to occupy a hospital bed beyond the date they are ready for discharge.

The consultation launched today, Friday 5 March in response to the Scottish Government’s letter (external website) of 10 February 2021, and closes on 24 Mar 2021. The consultation, and further information on delayed discharges is available on the PHS website, where we also welcome feedback and comments.
