Public Health Scotland (PHS) has today published an evaluation report on the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
The report synthesises the findings from all our evaluation activity carried out on the programme between October 2020 until June 2022 and provides recommendations which aim to inform future vaccination programmes, including the current winter vaccination programme.
Although there has been a high uptake of COVID-19 vaccinations in Scotland overall, uptake levels have not been equal across all population groups. The publication includes recommendations to support equitable access to vaccinations, as well as methods for maximising uptake in different population groups.
Dr Nick Phin, Director of Public Health Science and Medical Director at Public Health Scotland, said:
“Many of the evaluation findings in this report have already been shared with key stakeholders and led to real-time improvements in the roll out of the flu and COVID-19 vaccination programmes. Indeed, they have helped shape the current winter vaccination programme.
“If you are invited for vaccination this winter, please take the opportunity to increase your protection against flu or COVID-19 by getting your vaccines.”
