Public Health Scotland’s Knowledge Services team provides a range of knowledge and library services to the public health workforce in Scotland.

Contacting us

You can email phs.knowledge@phs.scot to discuss any of our services or request knowledge support.

Request search support

You can get in touch to request a literature search or evidence summary. We are currently prioritising COVID-19 research, but will be happy to discuss your support needs.

Request information skills training

We can provide training in a range of information skills, tools and techniques (for example, advanced search skills, grey literature, summarisation). You can contact us for further information. All training is currently being delivered online.

Borrow a book

We are part of the NHS Scotland network of Knowledge and Library Services. You can search for and order books using the library search. You will need to sign up for an OpenAthens login to request books. This is currently a limited service as many Knowledge Services teams are working from home. However, a wide range of e-books are available.

Databases, reference management tools and other resources

Most of our resources are provided at a national level through The Knowledge Network. You will need an OpenAthens login to access these resources.

Research commissioning

See our page on research commissioning to find out the process for how we commission research.
