About this release

This release by Public Health Scotland presents annual rates for the Core Suite of Integration Indicators for each Integration Authority area and Scotland. Some indicators are based on survey feedback while others are derived from data routinely collected for other purposes, such as hospital activity data and National Records of Scotland death records. These indicators were developed to help Integration Authorities to review progress towards achieving each of the national Health and Wellbeing Outcomes. This is a planned update of the 13 July 2021 publication to take account of more complete data and impacts on indicators 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 20.

Background

Integration Authorities have been required by legislation to report on the Core Suite of Integration Indicators within their Annual Performance Reports since 2016/17. The indicators were developed in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders and are intended for consideration within the wider context of health and social care.

Indicator values are derived from national data sources to enable comparability between local areas and with Scotland. There are 23 indicators in total. The indicators reported comprise of nine indicators based on the Health and Care Experience Survey and ten other measures mainly using health activity, community and deaths information. The remaining four indicators cannot be reported as national data is not available or there is not yet a nationally agreed definition. For more detailed information, please see the background and glossary document.

Most of these indicators are available in other publications, links to which can be found in the Excel workbook which accompanies this release. Please note that the time period presented for each indicator will vary depending on data availability and completeness at the time of release. For the most recent time period reported, some indicators will have been affected by measures put in place due to COVID-19.
