As part of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a genomic sequencing service has been established through support from the Scottish Government and National Services Division of NSS, in partnership with COG-UK and the Scottish Specialist Virology Laboratories.
This is in order to identify outbreaks and incidents rapidly, enabling public health intervention strategies to be deployed as soon as possible.
This targeted approach will reduce the number of infections and burden of disease in Scotland.
