Description

This briefing provides an overview of the rise of health-related economic inactivity (to be unemployed and not seeking work for health reasons) among young people aged 16–24 in Scotland and the extent to which mental health might be impacting on post-school transitions to employment and driving this trend. It incorporates stakeholder views on the current system surrounding young people’s crucial pre- and post-school transitions into study, training and employment, and where improvements could be made to support more young people into sustainable work.
