Whistleblowing

Third party providers, contractors and former staff

The National Whistleblowing Standards (external website) set out how whistleblowing concerns must be handled within NHS Scotland.

These standards have been developed by the Independent National Whistleblowing Officer (INWO).

In line with recent changes to whistleblowing, we’ve updated the way third party providers, contractors and former staff can raise a whistleblowing concern within PHS.

The new whistleblowing arrangements ensure that anyone delivering PHS services in Scotland can safely raise concerns.

The aim of whistleblowing is to make sure everyone who works for PHS can raise concerns when they:

  • see harm which risks patient safety
  • are aware of any other forms of wrongdoing

For further information, you can contact the PHS Whistleblowing team by email: phs.whistleblowing@phs.scot

All NHS Scotland boards are required to publish their annual Whistleblowing reports, which must also be shared with the INWO. View any corporate and annual reports.
