Director Appointment – Data and Digital Innovation

Public Health Scotland (PHS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Heald as Director of Data and Digital Innovation.
Scott was previously Chief Officer with PHS and most recently the Interim Director of Data and Digital Innovation.
Angela Leitch, Chief Executive of PHS, said:
“Scott has been acting as Interim Director for the past 10 months and I congratulate him on his permanent appointment. Scott’s leadership skills and vast experience in his field have been central to our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in establishing our Data and Digital Strategy. I am very much looking forward to continuing our work together”.
Scott said:
“I’m delighted to have been appointed to this amazing job. This is an important role in shaping the data and digital focus of PHS together with our partners.
"Delivery of the ambitions set out in the PHS Digital Strategy will initially be my key priority. The past two years have showcased the importance of timely data and digital solutions – it’s important we build on this, moving on to the next chapter, working with partners to enrich our data sources, and challenging ourselves to work differently to deliver on our ambition for a Scotland where everybody thrives".
Scott’s appointment begins with immediate effect and he also continues in the role of Head of Profession for Statistics.
