As part of our continuous review of reporting, Public Health Scotland (PHS) is merging the weekly national respiratory infection and COVID-19 statistical reports into one publication. By combining the publications, PHS will continue to provide a comprehensive overview of respiratory health in Scotland.
This report includes a new definition for hospital admissions associated with influenza and Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and aligns with that used for identifying hospital admissions 'because of' COVID-19.
A new interactive dashboard is included in the publication, providing key summary statistics and trend information.
This will replace the COVID-19 dashboard, which will no longer be updated. Developed as part of the PHS response to the pandemic, the dashboard was a key asset to support the surveillance and monitoring of COVID-19 amongst the population.
The new consolidated report and dashboard will be updated each Thursday at 9.30am with timely respiratory information and will continue to evolve to present a picture of current respiratory illness in Scotland. The first of these merged reports will be published on 2 February 2023.
