Members of the public are invited to join the Public Health Scotland (PHS) Annual Review online today at 11am to hear about how PHS has been working to protect and improve health in Scotland.

Reflecting PHS’s joint sponsorship, the performance review meeting will be co-led by the Scottish Government Minister for Public Health and Women’s Health, Jenni Minto MSP, and the COSLA Health and Social Care Spokesperson, Councillor Paul Kelly.

The meeting will examine PHS’s successes and challenges over the past year across several topics and work programmes, including immunisation, minimum unit pricing, child poverty and whole systems working. Videos and presentations from PHS staff will help to bring some of our key achievements to life.

Paul Johnston, Chief Executive of PHS, said:

“Public Health Scotland exists to create a Scotland where everybody thrives. We do this by leading and supporting work across Scotland to prevent disease, prolong healthy life and promote health and wellbeing. I am delighted to have the chance to share the achievements and celebrate the successes from the last year at our public annual review.”

Angiolina Foster, Chair of PHS, said:

“We would like to encourage anyone who is interested in our work to join our annual review and find out first-hand what we have been doing in Public Health Scotland to deliver our strategic plan. Members of the public have been invited to submit questions in advance, and we look forward to discussion on the issues that matter to people in Scotland.”
