This UK guidance has been approved for use in Scotland by the SHPN Guidance Group (SHPN-GG).

What the guidance covers

This guidelineĀ develops a methodology for rapid risk assessments undertaken in the initial stages of an event or incident of potential public health concern.

It describes an operational tool to facilitate rapid risk assessments for communicable disease incidents at both Member State and European level.

SHPN recommendations

The following are recommendations from the SHPN-GG for using this guidance in Scotland.

The ECDC risk assessment guidance is approved as being acceptable for use in Scotland on the basis that it is to be used for the following:

  • The rapid risk assessment of emerging infections where the evidence base is still evolving.
